Our Repair Process

What is Paintless Dent Repair?

Paintless Dent Repair is as the name suggests, the art of re-shaping metal back to its original shape without the need for paint, fillers, or any chemicals commonly used in panel beating shops.

Also referred to as PDR, the process originally began at the vehicle assembly plants such as Mercedes Benz in the first half of the 20th century, with workers using spoons to ease out damage that occurred on the production line. Perfected in the late 70’s right here in East Melbourne by Natalio Balderrama, his company Dent Wizard quickly popularized the process in the USA, and it’s since spread worldwide, being utilized by Insurers, Panel shops, Car dealers and private vehicle owners alike.

ADVANTAGES OF PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR

Without the need for painting and curing after repairs, PDR can offer quicker same-day turnaround times as little as half an hour, and done at the convenience of your home or workplace, for far less than the cost of panel beating. We keep your original factory paint finish intact, meaning no chance of mismatched colours or issues with the repair deteriorating in the future.

WHAT CAN BE REPAIRED?

Most cars utilizing 2-Pack paint finishes can repaired, so long as the paint remains in good contition, even restored classic cars. Hail damage, door dings, minor dents up to the size of a dinner place, creased, doubled skinned panels and aluminium can all be repaired, and in some instances even plastic bumpers and motorcycle fenders/tanks.

WHAT CAN’T BE REPAIRED?

Although PDR is usually a better alternative to conventional repairs, there are some limitations and factors to consider when deciding to having PDR performed. Most minor dents and creases can be repaired 100%, although some factors can hinder a great repair such as;

– Poorly re-sprayed panels, or vehicles 20+yrs old with acrylic paint
– Panels with excessive bog/filler used in previous repairs
– damage to structural bodywork
– deep or excessive scratches

PDR cannot repair paint chips, scratches or fractures. We can help buff out minor scratches, apply touch up paint over small scratches or chips, but large paint defects that hinder seeing a reflection in the paintwork are not suitable for PDR.

If you are unsure if your vehicles dents are suitable for PDR methods, please don’t hesitate to Contact Us, or submit your photos for an Online Estimate. We consistently repair damage that panel beaters insist cannot be repaired without repainting, or replacing panels!
